Wolves' senior men wrap up their 2020 campaign as they host Worthing Thunder on Saturday evening, tip-of 5.45pm.
It's been an odd start to the season for all the clubs in Division One, and both of Saturday's sides have only played four league games, with Thunder having won once and Wolves still looking for their first victory of the campaign, and home coach Thomas Baker acknowledges the challenges that has presented: "It seems strange that we are end this part of the season having only played what would be our fifth league game" he said.
"Having a weekend off is not always a good thing but I think this one has helped us really push the energy in practice and raise the intensity. We know Worthing have a lot of firepower in Cam [Hildreth], Zaire [Taylor], Tom [Ward] and Ish [Fontaine] as well as adding Howard [Crawford] and Max to the roster and we know it is going to be a tough afternoon particularly as they will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Solent.
"However, we are getting better every weekend and moving closer to the team we want to be, we played some of our best basketball in the game against Bradford, we will be looking go even further in this one.”
The game will see Wolves up against a side the contains two players who helped their predecessors, Leopards, win the National Trophy as Fontaine and Crawford face their former club. They will also face point guard Hildreth, who is the hottest property in British basketball having been included in the squad for the national team's recent EuroBasket qualifiers despite still being eligible to play under-18 club basketball.
While Worthing Thunder qualified for the L Lynch Trophy quarter-finals with wins against Barking Abbey and Essex Rebels, their only league win came at Reading Rockets in a home game switched to the opponents' court. The south coast club are currently looking to move to a new venue and are yet to play in Sussex this season as their long term home at Worthing Leisure Centre is unavailable.
Live stats will be available for Saturday's game.
