The WBBL side claim an important 64-69 win against Durham Palatinates on Saturday afternoon.
The game began with Wolves moving the ball well as almost all made field goals came off assists. Palatinates also found ways to score, seeing the lead change and the first quarter end 17-18.
The second period was much of the same as both teams continued to fight for the lead. Durham picked up their play to close out the first half strong and take a four point lead.
After half time, Lee Ryan’s side came out motivated to grab the much needed victory. Wolves were disciplined on both ends of the floor, making stops and reducing turnovers.
The team also knocked down their shots to force a six point turn around and go up by four at the end of the third. Oaklands continued to hit shots, while taking their time on offence and playing strong defence.
Palatinates battled until the end but Ryan’s side closed out down the stretch for a 64-69 win.
Wolves team effort saw each player contribute but the team was led by Greeta Uprus and Dorka Boros who scored 18 and 16 points respectively.
Durham guard Goretti Hurtado Barbeito netted 18 points, while forward Lies Van Straaten had 13 points and 7 rebounds.
The result sees the Wolves move up a place in the table as they face Essex Rebels at home on Saturday.
