The WBBL side suffer an unfortunate 80-51 loss to Manchester Met Mystics on Wednesday evening.
The game began with both teams slowing the pace and moving the ball in the half court to find good looks. Louise Rouse had 8 points and 6 rebounds in the first quarter to keep Wolves within reach as the period ended 17-12.
Both sides continued to take care and find open shots on offence, with just 4 turnovers in the first half. Oaklands struggled to finish their plays, while Mystics executed well to extend their lead to 12 at the end of the period.
After half time, inspired by the play of captain Georgia Jones, Manchester played disciplined defence to then play in transition. The home sides movement in the half court also helped them to a 14-3 run and end the third 64-42.
The eight player Wolves competed until the end but the deficit was too much to overcome as Mystics closed out for an 80-51 win.
Oaklands were led by Rouse who finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds, alongside Dorka Boros and Greeta Uprus who netted 13 and 10 points respectively.
Jones finished with 17 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds for Manchester, while the teams ball movement saw several other players contribute.
Wolves will look to bounce back from the result as they face winless Durham Palatinates in their next fixture.
