Wolves Suffer Loss to Lions

The WBBL team suffer a 65-92 loss to BA London Lions in their mid-week clash.

The game started with Lions playing with intensity and applying pressure to Wolves, forcing several turnovers. Cassie Breen and Kennedy Leonard led BA, combining for 24 of their first quarter points, as the period ended 11-33.

Wolves began the second quarter brighter as they went on an 11-0 run through much improved offence and defence. While BA bounced back, the home side continued to compete and prevented the deficit from increasing as the half ended 28-53.

The second half started with Oaklands moving the ball on offence and finding good shots, scoring 8 points in the first two minutes. However, Lions matched this with great perimeter shooting as they extended their lead to 28 points.

Wolves were led by Amari Carter who scored 7 points in the quarter through a number of difficult step-backs. Oaklands battled through the fourth quarter but BA were able to maintain their lead as the game ended 65-92.

Carter finished with 19 points and 5 rebounds, while Louise Rouse put up 13 points and 8 rebounds for the home side.

Breen netted 28 points on 64 FG% for the Lions. Leonard and Stephanie Umeh also scored 21 and 17 points respectively.

The result sees the team’s misfortune continue as they sit bottom of the table with a record of 0-3. Wolves will look to gain their first win of the season in their next fixture against Sevenoaks Suns on Saturday.
