Help us give to those who need a little extra help!
Oaklands College Wolves are looking to help local charity One Impossible Thing give a little extra help to those who need it!
Oaklands College Basketball academy and junior club are looking to support the charity in its mission to recycle everyone’s pre-loved sports shoes. One Impossible Thing collects pre-loved and outgrown sports shoes and redistributes them locally to those that need a little extra help. They believe a lack of sports shoes shouldn’t be an impediment to children and adults taking part in sport. They work with youth groups, schools’ and charitable organisations to redistribute the shoes.
If you have any outgrown and/or used sports shoes hiding at the back of your wardrobe, they would love to have them! Please bring them to the St Albans Campus Sports Zone reception or the Welwyn Garden City main reception and pop them in the cage/box provided.
Head of Basketball, Michael Ball said “this is such a wonderful cause, and we believe at Oaklands College that every individual should have access to PE, sport and healthy leisure activities no matter what their situation. I think we all have at least one pair of sports shoes we do not use that could make a difference – have your children outgrown their football boots? Do you have a spare pair of trainers hanging around at home? Even maybe write a short note to go with your shoe donation to inspire the person who receives them!”
Joanna Akpan, a member of Oaklands College Wolves basketball academy added “I think this is a great opportunity to give back to the community and those who have less. I’m excited to see all those who can benefit from it.”
