Wolves U-16 boys picked up a vital road victory as they returned from Brixton Topcats with a 54-47 success, on Sunday.
Daniel Kostadinov and Lanre Pratt led the way for Adam Pearce's team, scoring 18 points apiece. Pratt missed a double-double by a single rebound while Kostadinov pulled down five boards, with both players also dishing out three assists. The remaining 18 points were spread around the team, with Dushan Crompton pulling down an impressive 15 rebounds, while Milic Pavic and Ben Hodges each provided four assists.
Wolves led 13-9 at the first break but the hosts tied things up at 23 following a low scoring first half. A strong third period for the visitors proved to be key as they outscored Brixton 19-10, and the Topcats could only chip two points off the margin in the fourth period.
The U-14 boys showed the progress they have made since an opening day hammering at London Lions, and Jack Rankin's team went into the final few minutes tied before the capital side scored the final ten points of the game to win 60-50.
Playing on the show court for the first time this season, Wolves shared 20 first period points before Lions took a 27-24 lead into the locker room at half-time. A 20-17 third period saw the game again tied, at 44, heading into the fourth perod and after the teams had shred the first 12 points, Lions took control to win the game.
