McGhee-Pleasant lands at new home with Oaklands

Oaklands Wolves have announced the signing of dynamic US wing Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant.



The 6’3 highly skilled Texan arrives in the UK for her debut European season with the Wolves after finishing her college career earlier this year.

A graduate of Angelo State University, she played 3 years with the Rams after transferring from Wayland Baptist University. In her 3 seasons she registered 1306 points for an average of 14.4, and 743 rebounds for an average of 8.2. An impressive senior season saw her named as First Team All-LSC and First Team All-South Central Region teams.


Following graduation McGhee-Pleasant moved to Australia to play the NBL one season alongside Ella Fotu at Kalamunda Eastern Suns. In her first professional season she finished with 15.8 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game. Now she moves to the UK and is ready for a new challenge, the player said “I am excited to have the opportunity to join Oaklands in the Super League Basketball womens championship this season. I’m eager to work with the staff and my teammates to enhance my performance levels. I look forward to contributing to the Wolves success this campaign.’


A player that is sure to excite the Hertfordshire crowds, coach Ryan explains what the Wolves fans can expect “Tay is a maverick in the best way possible! Her game and skill set is exceptional for someone still at the start of her career. She has such a high ceiling and we are all excited to work with her to help her continue her growth and realise her potential. She will be a nightmare match up and I’m looking forward to utilising her length and versatility to complement the rest of the squad as we make our mark this season.”
