Girls' play-off dreams stil alive

Wolves’ UI-16 girls kept their play-off hopes alive with a scrappy 57-42 victory against London Greenhouse Pioneers, last Saturday.

Tor Freeman’s side made hard work of it against the winless home side, but other results mean they now need one win from their final two games to reach the post-season.

Wolves led 18-11 at the first break and looked on their way to a comfortable victory as they took a 37-19 advantage into the locker room at half-time.

But the hosts refused to lie down, sharing 20 third period points, and Freeman was forced to return his starters to the game to wrap up their 13th victory of the campaign.

Eighteen points from Amye Swinney [pictured] and 12 from Caitlin Ryan led Wolves’ scoring, and both flirted with triple-doubles with Swinney adding 11 rebounds and seven steals while Ryan had ten steals to got with her eight boards and three blocks. Lily Harkness, Stell Piscetelli-Ekblad and Paris Tyson all added six points apice.
